THE INDWELLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT-THE HOLY SPIRIT (IN ME) IS MY HELPER!
So many people have so many understandings about who the Holy Spirit is and about what His function is. First of all, the Holy Spirit is a “person” of the Trinity…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These “three” all agree as one…so that Christians serve one God, but a God having three individual personalities…yet one. It is my belief that we may never understand this completely until Jesus comes again. Yet, I know the Holy Spirit came into my life as a person, after the Father had wooed me to Jesus, who became my Saviour and Lord. God the Father is the “CEO” of the Trinity and holds the leadership position and Jesus Christ the Son is the Divine Representative of the Trinity, while the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost) is the Divine Administrator of Government and Creativity…all three agreeing on Their Plan for man.
Who is the Holy Ghost? He is the Administrator of the Trinity. When the Father speaks, the Holy Ghost administrates that word to humans through Jesus Christ. When the Father spoke the worlds into existence, Jesus was by His side (Proverb 8:22-31), and the Holy Spirit created the existence of a beautiful paradise that had been spoken by faith (Genesis 1:2). The Trinity planned the creation of mankind, had foreknowledge of the fall of Lucifer and the fall of man, and planned the redemption of man and his reconciliation back to God, the Father by the Son Jesus Christ before Adam was ever created. The Father’s position of leader is in heaven. Today Jesus Christ sits at the Father’s right hand of authority, ever since He ascended to heaven after His bodily resurrection. Fifty days after Passover (and the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus), Pentecost came and so did the Holy Spirit come to earth in a fuller measure so that God now can dwell in man. To endorse this “coming of the Holy Spirit,” on the day of Pentecost a hundred and twenty people received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, which was certified when tongues of fire of the presence of the Holy Spirit was seen visible above their heads. Also, this special “measure” of the Holy Spirit in the earth was endorsed when three thousand people were saved and born-again of the Spirit of God, as the Apostle Peter preached. This “special measure of the Holy Spirit” is the spiritual power from God the Father that can be accessed through Jesus Christ, the Son (Romans 5:2…access by faith into God’s grace and power.)
Jesus Christ had the Holy Spirit dwelling in Him, upon Him, and around Him in “full measure,” but Christians have a “measure” of the Holy Spirit given for spiritual fellowship with God and for power to be God’s witness and extend God’s kingdom in the earth (John 3:33-36; Romans 12:1-3). Speaking in other tongues (one that the speaker does not understand) is the “initial” evidence of being filled with the power of the Holy Ghost to be able to be sanctified by the Holy Ghost and power to be of service to God (Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:2-6, [which happened twenty years after Pentecost]; Romans 12:1-3). But there are other evidences of being “filled” or “full” of the Holy Ghost.
- Supernatural love (for God and for others)
- Worship “in spirit and in truth” to God
- Fellowship with God, the Father (by sanctification of the Holy Spiritand by reconciliation by Jesus Christ, the Son.
- The ability to witnessing for God to others with power
- Prayer – empowered by the Holy Spirit
- Service – supernatural empowered to serve and glorify God-as His child and His ambassador- and as a teacher, preacher, apostle, prophet, or evangelist, if God has called you to one of these office ministries
- Divine guidance by the Spirit of God through faith in Christ Jesus
- Living to please God – instead of living in the world
- Ability to share your “faith” with others
- Ability to encourage other with spiritual faith
- Ability to walk in the gifts of the Spirit (1st Corinthians 12)
- Ability to help people through the power and knowledge given by the Holy Ghost,
- And other evidences, such as…kindness, goodness in supernatural abundance in you toward others.
Let the believer “hear” with spiritual ears what the Holy Spirit is speaking to the Churches and to individuals today!
“True believers worship one Jehovah God for His amazing love is written on their hearts. The Holy Spirit has been sent from the Father and from the Son to do a work in and for the blood-bought Church. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a reality when a person is born again, accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. The Father is the One who draws a person to the place of introduction to Jesus. The Son meets the person and redeems him or her; while the Holy Spirit hovers there to see that the introduction with Jesus takes place. The Holy Spirit continues to hover, just as in Genesis 1:2, over the face of the deep (of the person’s personality) to create of that person a brand new creature. When a person believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Trinity (the Godhead) comes to live in that person’s inner man, the spirit of that man or woman. The new spirit has been made new and alive with God living in him (or her). Revelation 3:20 declares that when a man invites God into his heart, God will dwell with him. God is one God, yet three specific persons. When one of the Godhead comes to live inside of your spirit (heart), God, the Trinity, lives there for they are one in unity. And there are many other instances in the Bible when God tells man, “I will be your God and dwell with you.” The Father draws a person to Himself; Jesus, the Son, redeems that person; and the Holy Spirit moves upon the person’s heart creating a brand new creature clothed in holiness and righteousness. The Holy Spirit comes to impart life in abundance and in fullness of joy. We can understand God better by recognizing the different functions of each person of the Godhead. Thank God, He dwells in us, with us, and for us! “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome” evil principalities and powers “because greater is He that is in you, than he (the devil) that is in the world” (1st John 4:4). The Greater One lives in the believer. There is, however, a distinction of the Holy Spirit coming to live in a person at his new birth, and the second, separate infilling occasion when the Holy Spirit anoints you to enable you with spiritual power to serve God. In Hebrew, the Ruach ha Kodesh is the Holy Spirit and means “breathed.” As rain falls to nourish the physical crops unto harvest, so the Holy Spirit longs to fall on and breathe the breath of life into those who have identified with Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection to be the family of God. “Breathe on me, Holy Spirit, as you hover over me. Mold me and make me into the image of Christ.” The Holy Spirit anoints you to fellowship with Him. He continues that fellowship to establish you in God’s ways of truth, to comfort you in affliction, to strengthen you in service for building the church, and to cause glory to be given to the Father through the fruit that you bear. This second infilling experience with the Holy Spirit brings a person into the reality of the Spirit’s fullness and into an intimate knowledge of God.
When the “Holy Spirit comes upon a person,” this second experience is called “the baptism of the Holy Ghost” or “the infilling of the Spirit.” This baptism of anointed empowerment of the Holy Spirit can happen at new birth or later as a subsequent event. Jesus Himself said, “I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever, even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees Him not, neither knows Him, but you know Him; for He dwells with you, and shall be in you.” That Comforter that Jesus sent to us is the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost. He is a person of the Godhead, an individual—not an “it!” When a person desires more of God and asks to be baptized or surrounded by God, Jesus, as the Baptizer pours His Spirit upon You. When you receive the Holy Spirit by faith, He begins to speak divine utterances to your spirit as you worship, which you must speak out of your mouth with your voice. God has said, “I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh.” That means any believer in Christ Jesus who will desire to be filled with the Spirit of God can do so. The Holy Spirit does come upon you and does hover you as you begin to overflow with His Spirit. The Holy Ghost already dwells in you, yet He also comes upon you. It is when you begin to worship God and allow Him to bubble up inside of you until your spirit overflows with praise, worship, and thanksgiving that a river of living water begins to flow out of your mouth as you speak in other tongues. I met Jesus as the Baptizer of the Holy Ghost, but I didn’t know how to cooperate with Him and begin to speak in other tongues. The Holy Spirit was my Helper and My Comforter until one day I did relax and let Him flow out of me as I spoke in other tongues. Some people have been taught that this experience of being baptized by “or in” the Holy Spirit is not for today. How unfortunate that some people can’t believe in the unlimited, supernatural power of God! Satan lives this lie for it keeps people from an intimate fellowship with God, from hearing more accurately the voice of God, and from receiving divine power and wisdom to defeat satanic enemies.
God so loved mankind that He made a blood covenant with man to provide for his every need. When the earth was with out form and void, the Holy Spirit hovered upon the face of the waters. Jesus was with the Father when He spoke, and the Holy manifested creation (Proverbs 8:22-31). He is in the world, for God is everywhere. When Jesus’ blood had been sacrificed and poured upon the earth, then the Son was resurrected the first born from the dead. The day heaven came down and glory filled our souls is called Pentecost, the day the Holy Ghost came as Teacher and Comforter to dwell “in” men’s hearts. This is the Day of Shavuoth or Pentecost…”
